Overview

Acupressure is an effective method of relaxing the muscles of our body. It is somehow related to acupuncture, which is a traditional Chinese treatment for pain relief and functioning of the tissues.

Acupressure is useful for treating body pains, including stomach aches, back pains, neck pains, knee pains, tooth pain, headaches and sinus related issues. The treatment also works for controlling nausea and vomiting if one pertains it.

Acupressure Points For Knee Pain Relief 

  1. Centre of the back of the knee crease 

  • This acupressure point of the back of the knee is used to relieve pain by giving gentle pressure and messaging.   

  • It also acts as acupressure for sciatica pain relief and treating knee stiffness.

  1. Below the knee cap

  • Messaging on this acupoint can help in decreasing inflammation or pain in the muscles, joints or tissue.

  • This pressure point helps with muscle strains and intense leg pain. 

Acupressure for Back Pain Relief

  1. If we rub the back with the back messager, can help with reducing back pains in most of the cases.

  2. Figure 1 has B23 and B47, which are known to be the acupoints, is used for healing back pain. Messaging at the points is helpful in stretching of the tissues and thus reduces the strain.

  1. The pressure points at B48 and GB30  of figure 2 is for the one who is suffering from hip pains or stiffness.

Acupressure For Toothache Pain Relief

Acupressure for Sinus Pain Relief

  1. Between the upper side of the inner eyelids or BL2

  • Press at BL2 or the shown points by fingers of both the hands.

  • Slowly slide your fingers into the hollows between the eyebrows and nose

  • Keep your fingers there for a minute and repeat the process.

  • It will reduce stress and helps in getting a firmness around that area.

  1. The third eye or GV24.5   

  • The point GV24.5 is better known as Yintang, a traditional Chinese medicine theory. It is also known as the third eye, located in the middle of the eyebrows.

  • For relaxing the sinus problems, you can press the point by using your one or two fingers and gently rubbing the area by going down slowly above the bridge of your nose.

  • Repeating the process for a few minutes will help in releasing the nasal congestion to relieve headaches.

  1. Sides of the nostrils or LI20        

  • Press either side of the nose or LI20, the area where it touches the cheeks, with your finger.

  • The process will help to eliminate sinus pains to a greater extent.          

Acupressure for Neck Pain Relief

An acupressure or reflexology techniques has always been in traditional medicare sciences. Along with the above acupressure points for pain relief, it is also possible to get rid of the neck pain problems that anyone quickly experiences. Similar techniques may work for other pain issues.

  1. Feng chi or GB20

  • The point is above the neck and the base of the skull. 

  • On giving pressure to this point, can stimulate the stiffness of your neck.

  • It also works for controlling fatigue and headaches.

  1. Jian jing or GB21

  • This acupoint is in the halfway between the shoulder and the neck. The pressure given here helps in treating with muscle contraction and tightening due to which neck pain occurs.

  • Pressing and rubbing at the area gently is the process of this technique.

  • As it needs a lot of strength to act on, pregnant women are not suggested to do this.

  1. He Gu or L14              

  • He gu points, located in between the base of the thumb and the forefinger, help reduce the neck pains.

  • Press the point, as shown in the picture above for a few minutes.

  • Pregnant women should avoid stimulating this point.

Acupressure for Heel Pain Relief

Heel pain is often a common problem in humans, with intense pain, especially when placing weight on foot. If the pain is in the back of the heel, it is Achilles tendinitis, and if it in the underside of the foot, it indicates plantar fasciitis. It occurs due to the inflammation in the band of the tissue.

  1. Shimian M-LE 5

  • You can find the points in the centre of the heel, which targets the plantar fascia.

  • Apply pressure to the points for 30 seconds to 2 minutes.

  1. KL-6

  • The pressure point KL-6 or the illuminated sea point is in the inner ankle with a distance of one thumb below the anklebone.

  • Press the area and hold with your thumbs one centimetre away from the ankle.

  • Doing it for a few times will help in heel pains.
