1. Turmeric And Garlic Milk

Add the ginger and the peppermint to a pan of water and set it to boil. Once boiled, allow it to simmer until the solution is reduced to half.
Strain the solution and let it cool. Put some honey in it and stir till it dissolves properly.
You can take a tablespoon at regular intervals in a day, or as required to treat your cough.
You can store the solution in a bottle and it can be refrigerated to 3 weeks.
5. Black Pepper
Black pepper is the most effective and best remedy for cough at home. It is also known to provide you relief from nasal congestion. The expectorant property present in black pepper helps in the breakdown of mucus as well as phlegm deposits in your respiratory tract.
The irritant quality of black pepper further allows you to get rid of the loosened mucus by way of coughing/sneezing, thus eliminating it from your body and promoting faster healing.
You can take 2-3 seeds of black pepper and chew it.
In case you do not like the bitter taste of it, you can add them in a glass of boiled milk and drink it regularly until your condition improves.
Another way to have it is by making black pepper tea. Put some black pepper powder and honey in a cup and then add boiling water to it. Let it stay for about 15 minutes, strain it and have it.
6. Marshmallow Root
It is a herb that eases coughs and sore throats and is being traditionally used since ancient times. The herb can help to handle with irritation resulting from cold or flu.

You have to add either form of the root in hot water and drink it immediately. The longer the root steeps in the water, the more mucus grows in the drink.

Dark honey, such as buckwheat, work best for coughs in children of 1 age 1 and older. It contains high concentrations of antioxidants.
You can give half a teaspoon of honey to babies ageing from 1-5 years
For children of age 6-11 years, one whole teaspoon of honey may be offered.
Toddlers less than the age one is not suggested to have this remedy as it can build botulism in them.
Warm or cold fluids is an excellent remedy for babies because they thin out mucus, which causes coughs in humans. Liquids will also make your child hydrated. Juices, hot water can be given to them.
Saltwater gargling helps in treating a dry cough at home. It also reduces throat irritation in toddlers. You can make the mixture by adding one-half teaspoon of salt with 8 ounces of water, then give to your child for rinsing it.
