In Ayurvedic system, kizhi is a massage which uses small herbal pouches made of various herbs which are warmed in medicated oils.

This form of therapy is done with kizhis where heated herbs, oils, powders, and other prescribed materials are tied into muslin bags to form boluses. Then these bags are then placed with varying degrees of pressure on different body parts, with special focus on areas where the marma - or nerve points are located, followed by specific massages, done using the fingers, heel of the hand or palm.

The kizhis are used to massage the entire body or specific areas (the back, neck, shoulders, hands and joints) which gives instant and spontaneous relief in painful conditions.
