Computer Vision Syndrome Diagnosis

  • Glancing away from the computer every 20 minutes for at least 20 seconds 
  • Increasing the font of your computer screen
  • Reducing glare from nearby light sources
  • Using a glare filters screen
  • Using a flat-screen monitor
  • Positioning your screen so that the centre is 4 to 5 inches below your eye level and 20 to 28 inches from your eye
  • Remembering to blink often 

Your eye doctor will also treat any health problems, such as allergies or thyroid disease, that can cause dry eye and CVS. This may include:

  • Wearing contact lenses to correct your vision
  • Using lubricating eye drops
  • Using a humidifier and computer glasses
  • Using an anti-glare screen protector
  • Wearing computer eyewear
  • Drinking plenty of water
  • Taking prescription medicine to increase tear production 

Here are some beneficial easy eye care tips

  • After every 20 minutes of work, look at a distant object and blink numerous times. This will help in improved focusing.
  • Blink frequently. People mostly tend to reduce the blink rate while working on the computer. This can lead to the dryness of the eyes. Try to blink your eyes at least 12 to 15 times every minute.
  • Do Exercise of your eyes at frequent intervals. Eye exercises are simple. All you need to do is blink as many times you can, then shut your eyes and move them in clockwise and anticlockwise, alongwith inhaling and exhaling slowly and open your eyes after doing this.
  • Rub your palms with each other till they become warm. Shelter your eyes with your warm palms for about a minute. Palming is another excellent way to relax and calm your eyes.
  • Splashing water on your face while on breaks can keep you fresh. This also helps in cooling, calming and quieting your eyes.
  • A few minutes of walk on breaks will refresh your mind and body. It is also beneficial for your eyes as walking expand blood supply to your eyes.
  • Set a monitor screen protector for eye strain.
  • Use an anti-glare screen on to your monitor or use computer eye strain glasses while working on your system. 
  • Also, place the monitor and lights in such a manner that shine from the screen is minimum to protect eyes from computer screen software.
