Dropsy or edema is a disease caused due to the accumulation of serous liquid in the tissues. It leads to swelling as the fluid accumulates in the tissues. It leads to noticeable weight gain, achy muscles, and shiny skin in the affected area. It is most common in the ankles and feet but causes bloating in the entire body. Here are a few homeopathic remedies to cope up with dropsy:
1. Apis mellifica:
It is a widely used homeopathic medicine to cure dropsy. It is prescribed when the person feels thirstless and dropsy is acute where the skin turns pale, with rashes, and the urine is transparent and there is fever accompanying dropsy. It is also given when the dropsy is aggravated by heat and there are effusions due to inflammation of serous cavities.
It is generally used to treat dropsy in all cases but when there are complications related to heart or lungs, it is the preferred choice. When the dropsy causes puffiness in the eyes and face accompanied by albumin in urine, arsenicum is the cure.
It is given when the dropsy is caused due to heart diseases. In such cases, the dropsy is often accompanied with nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The urine is scanty and also contains albumin. Swelling in the fet is accompanied with swelling in the genitals. When these symptoms accompany dropsy, digitalis is prescribed.
Lachesis is given when the dropsy occurs with symptoms like dark and albuminous urine, and the skin turns dark or bluish white. When the dropsy is due to congestion in kidney, which results in renal pain and dark urine, lachesis is administered.
5. Sambucus can:
Sambucus can is given when the dropsy is still in its initial stage. When the dropsy begins to develop, swellings in feet or ankles begin to develop and their is profuse sweating during daytime. In such an early stage, sambucus can can help the person suffering.
