Importance of Water

Have you ever wondered how much water is there in a human body?
On an average up to 60 percent of the adult human body is water. The brain and heart are composed of 73% water, Lean muscle tissue is about 75 % water by weight,the lungs are about 83% water, muscles and kidneys are 79%, the skin contains 64% water, and even the bones are watery: 31%.
About 83 percent of our blood is water, which helps in digesting our food, control body temperature and transporting waste.
Everyday individuals should consume a certain amount of water to survive this may vary according to age and gender, and also depending on here the individual lives. In general an adult male needs about 3 litres per day while an adult female needs about 2.2 litres per day. Some of this water is received in food.
Some Essential Functions Of Water Which Keeps Us Going Are:-
- Acts first as a building material for every cell.
- Sweating and respiration help in regulating our internal body temperature.
- The water in our bloodstream helps in transporting and metabolizing the carbohydrates and proteins which are used by our body.
- Through urination water assists in flushing waste.
- For brain, spinal cord, and foetus it acts as an excellent shock absorber.
- Helps in saliva formation.
- Helps in lubricating joints.
