One of the most central question in neuroscience is: How do humans think? Scientists have found that human think using their brain’s navigation system. While navigating the environment, two important cell types, hippocampus and grid cells are found to be active in the mind. These cells build a circuit in the adjacent entorhinal cortex and allow navigation and orientation. Moreover, the human brain stores information associated with surroundings in cognitive spaces.

Cognitive spaces are referred to as a mental mapping which helps individuals to rearrange their experiences. Every object or person has some physical properties and can, therefore, be arranged along different dimensions.

What is Thinking Process?

Thinking verifies existing knowledge and allows humans to build new ideas and expertise to create connections between them. It includes logic and inquiry with processing and evaluating resources. Also, it entails the capability of monitoring, planning, assessing their ideas to create a new and fresh idea. The thinking processes involve a range of practical, cognitive, and metacognitive knowledge and behaviours.

Here are the processes of thinking psychology:

The Brain Building Blocks

The primary building elements of the brain that starts with brain cells are called neurons. Chemical processes in the brain send messages through neurons that define thought processes along with thinking. According to a study, Glia cells exist between neurons in the brain and interacts chemically with neurons and hormones in the production of thought. The motor neurons work in human muscles, and sensory neurons treat our five senses.

The Five Senses

In the human body, there are five senses, including taste, touch, sight, hearing, and smell. Sensations turn the information back to the central brain process. Emotions affect the human thinking by producing acts like crying, laughter, and sadness that alter sensory information.

Thinking Process

The process of thinking brings together the information to connect the various parts with something that is understandable. Cognition defines as the process of thinking. The American College of Radiology and the Radiology Society represents functional MRI as a diagnostic procedure that can accurately determine the location of thinking processes in the mind. Positron ejection topography can also document images of the brain during different thought processes.

Reasoning Process

Reasoning or logic implies to examine the evidence and facts, perceived by the senses and combining them with thinking to make a conclusion. There are 20 types of logic, and the most common types include deductive and inductive logic. Inductive reasoning refers to the method of starting the specification and expanding the concepts to cover some observations. Deductive reasoning involves starting from a universal rule and moving to a specific thing.

The Learning Process

The learning process helps the individual to think. Human begins to learn through the process of trial and error, along with the incorporation of experience, abstract thinking, and deduction. The brain integrates the input data with the information stored in the mind.
